Berea College Crafts Book or Plate Holder

What Makes it Good?

"Berea College isn’t like most other colleges. It was founded in 1855 by a Presbyterian minister who was an abolitionist. It was the first integrated, co-educational college in the South. And it has not charged students tuition since 1892. Every student on campus works, and its labor program is like work-study on steroids." —Adam Harris, The Atlantic

Each student, in exchange for tuition, learns the traditional crafts of the Appalachian Mountains so these skills are not lost.

Berea College Crafts Wrought Iron Book/Plate Holder is made by the students of Berea College in the traditional techniques of the Appalachian Mountains using the Blacksmith and welding skills passed down for generations.

Powder coated, heat cured, black finish is rust resistant to last for many years.

It has a deep 1-3/4” base, and a high, slanted, 10-1/2” back to hold your favorite cookbook, sheet music, photo or framed award; or display your cherished memorial plate or platter.
